Toy Cleaners

Toy cleaners are exactly what they sound like: a hygienic product specifically formulated to desinfect sex toys before and after use. They are popular for keeping adult toys in great shape and also for protecting users from possible infections caused by bacteria or microbes.

Toy cleaners are a great way to ensure healthy pleasure. There are different varieties on the market, so you have to consider the type of toy you have and the material it is made of before choosing the ideal cleaner.

Cleaners can be found in spray or foam. You can also find options for folx with sensitive skin and with natural extracts such as aloe vera and tree oil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cleaning alone does not guarantee STI prevention, especially for porous materials. For shared use, wash non-porous toys (silicone, glass, metal) with soap or toy cleaner and warm water, then sterilize by boiling for 2-3 minutes. Cover porous toys (TPR, TPE) with a new condom for each partner, as they cannot be fully sterilized.

Silicone toys can be sanitized by boiling 2-3 minutes, wiping with 70% isopropyl alcohol, or running through the dishwasher (top rack, no detergent). Dedicated antibacterial toy cleaners also effectively kill surface bacteria. Always wash with soap and warm water first to remove debris, then sanitize using your preferred method.

Toy cleaners are specifically formulated to be gentle on body safe materials while effectively removing bacteria and debris. They are free from harsh chemicals, fragrances, and dyes that can degrade silicone or irritate sensitive skin. Regular hand soap or dish soap can be used in a pinch, but avoid soaps with moisturizers, fragrances, or antibacterial agents that may damage toys.

Clean your toys before and after every single use. This prevents the buildup of bacteria, bodily fluids, and lube residue that can cause infections or degrade materials. For toys used infrequently, wash them before use if they have been stored for an extended period to remove any accumulated dust or debris.

Store each toy separately in a dust free pouch or case to prevent material degradation and bacterial cross contamination. Silicone toys should not touch other silicone toys, as they can chemically bond and degrade. A dedicated storage bag or box with individual compartments is ideal for maintaining hygiene and extending toy life.

Clean electronic toys with a damp cloth and mild antibacterial soap, then wipe dry with a lint free cloth. Never submerge electronic toys in water or run them under running water. For waterproof toys, check the IPX rating. Fully submersible toys can be washed with soap and water, but avoid extreme temperatures.
